Next to the legendary district of Santa Cruz, we find the wonderful La Ereta Park which occupies nearly seven hectares surrounded by nature where we can walk the winding paths enjoying fantastic viewpoints, cafes, fountains and even a panoramic restaurant.
At La Ereta Park you must come unhurried, well-shoed, wanting to get away from the city and breathe fresh air. It is reached through the picturesque Barrio de Santa Cruz, from which you can access the area via stairs, and from there, the paths diverge to tour the remains of the wall, the Polvorin, Jardín del Ángel and Mirador de la Alta Colina, where you can enjoy the second best panoramic views of the city of Alicante, from above the Castle of Santa Barbara. It also has exhibition halls, museums and fountains.
On your visit you will see how the park is changing as you climb: from lower and more urban parts you will reach an area with olive trees, Plaza de la Ereta, pine area and an area of oak and scrub as typical Mediterranean vegetation.
Our advice is to visit the Barrio Santa Cruz and then reach La Ereta Park, sit on a bench to rest listening to the sound of the fountains and admire the wonderful views of Alicante and of course the deep blue Mediterranean Sea.
