Salou is considered the capital of the Costa Dorada and the most visited population in this region thanks to its wide range of leisure and entertainment.

The Costa Dorada runs from Cunit to Alcanar, to the south of Catalonia’s main city Barcelona in the province of Tarragona. Salou is strategically well placed as it has 2 international airports in the vicinity, which is the Reus Airport just 10 km from Salou and the international airport of Barcelona 100 km far.

Salou is the main family destination on the Costa Dorada, thanks to its wide range of leisure and entertainment, it has become a tourist reference worldwide with more than two million visitors a year seeking the warmth of its beaches, and attracted by its variety of attractions and theme parks like PortAventura, Ferrari Land or water parks such as Aquopolis or Costa Caribe Aquatic Park.

In addition, the town has 7 km of coastline that are one of its main attractions. The population has 4 beaches of fine golden sand with good services, and 5 beautiful unspoiled and secluded coves.

The quality of its beaches and waters, together with its modern facilities attract thousands of tourists every year. La Playa dels Capellans, la Platja de Llevant , or la preciosa cala el Reguerot are awarded every year with the Blue Flag of the EU. Other magnificent beaches include Platja de Ponent, la Cala Font or the lovely Cala dels Llenguadets.

It is a delight to visit them, walking along the main street of Salou, the Promenade Jaume I or the beautiful Camino de Ronda coastal path that runs along its coastline  from the center of the town to Cabo de Salou, it is a pleasant walk without much difficulty for walking, where you can appreciate the beauty of this coast in the less touristy and more unknown areas.

 

Along the promenade Jaume I, a beautiful promenade dotted with palm trees and playgrounds, we can enjoy many stores, bars, restaurants of all types and every night, we can see an impressive lighting and light show of the Fuente Luminosa.

For boaters, Salou has a nice marina with 150 moorings. Here travelers can enjoy water sports, rent boats to spend a day sailing, take a fishing trip, etc. Besides beaches and fun, Salou holds the magnificent Port Aventura theme park a few kilometers away which is easily accessible and will make a holiday in Salou unforgettable.
