It is called the white island, because there is something special about it. For decades, Ibiza has been attracting visitors coming from all corners of the globe. It features heavenly beaches, white houses, turquoise clear waters and a unique atmosphere in the Mediterranean.

 

Ibiza is an island located 79 km from the Iberian Peninsula, oppositethe township of Denia that, along with Mallorca, Menorca, Formentera and several smaller islets, form the set of the Balearic Islands. It is a relatively small but accessible island since it is only 41 km from north to south. Its international airport is located in the municipality of San Josep de Sa Talaia, just 10 km from the city.

Until the 60s-70s, Ibiza was just another island in the Mediterranean, where its people lived mostly from fishing and agriculture and the island was still a real unknown spot for mass tourism. It was then that, when the first hippies began to disembark here, attracted toits beautiful beaches, its privileged climate, friendly people, good energy and mysticism surrounding the island. That was the trigger for the world to know about the island and it gradually gained worldwide fame.

Today, Ibiza or The White Island, as many call it, is one of the most important tourist destinations on the planet. The combination of its beautiful beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters, wonderful sunsets, the best and broadest nightlife scene in the world, its rich cuisine and a wide cultural offering, has been attracting for decadesmillions of tourists to its shores every year.

The island consists of 5 municipalities that are: the city of Ibiza “la capital”, Santa Eulalia, San Josep de Sa Talaia, San Joan de Labridja i San Antoni de Portmany.

The capital city of Ibiza is the municipality with the largest population of the island. Located in the eastern part of the island, it has a large and very important seaport. Its majestic fortress called Dalt Vila is a true symbol of the island, which hosts one of the most beautiful and lively historical Mediterranean towns. Fishing neighborhoods La Marina and Sa Peña district, are like an extension of the historic district and also a concentration of the tourist spots of Ibiza, with bustling streets full of bars, clubs, restaurants and people of all kinds.
The island has become famous for having the largest nightlife scene of the world, featuring many fun spots and the biggest and most famous clubs on the planet, such as Amnesia, Pacha Ibiza, Space, Cafe del Mar, Usuhaia or Es Paradis that have spent decades celebrating legendary parties that attract thousands of young people every year.

Ibiza, also called the White Island, has more than 60 beaches and idyllic coves that in recent decades have become famous worldwide for the quality and the turquoise color of its waters, its natural environment of great beauty and fine white sand tongues that form a charming paradise in the Mediterranean.
The island is also known for its wide range of nudist and naturist tourism, just like in its neighbor city Formentera. Spread around the island, you will find countless beaches dedicated to nudism, such as the beach of Talamanca in the capital, the beach of Es Canar a few kilometers from Santa Eulalia, considered one of the main centers of nudism, or the pristine and remote beaches of mass tourism north of Santa Eulalia such as Es Figueral and Cala de S’Aigua Blaca. Also, in the south, on the beach of Ses Salines, near the natural park, nudism is also a common practice.
