The Serra Gelada Natural Park in Valencian or Sierra Helada Natural Park in Spanish, is one of the most visited parks in the Valencian Community, formed by a mountain range of about six kilometers long that runs along the coast that is situated between Benidorm, Albir and Altea. The Sierra has large cliffs 400 meters high that plunge abruptly into the sea resulting in one of the most unique, powerful and extraordinary landscapes of the Costa Levantina.
The land part of Sierra Helada consists of 650 hectares and is home to a large number of species of flora and fauna of great biological value. But most of the park is set in the seabed where the park has over 4,900 hectares of protected seabeds inhabited by many species of fish, crustaceans and invertebrates; a paradise for scuba divers. The protected area also reaches the three islands off the coast: Isla de Benidorm, Isla Mitjana and Islotes Olla y Galera.
