On this beach began the origins of the city of Alicante, as the nearby archaeological sites show. A few 800m from Albufereta beach are the remains of a sunken Roman ship that probably headed to the commercial port on the Albufera and that has undergone a fantastic job of underwater archeology.
The beach has a nice tongue of golden sand 400m long and calm waters that make it ideal for swimming.
It is situated in the center of a residential area of the same name and its central location makes it a very busy place during the summer when the beach is crowded.Playa de la Albufereta represents a classic summer resort of Alicante.
The Albufereta beach has good facilities such as showers, toilets, lifeguard stations, gateways disabled, rent umbrellas, parasols, rent pedal boats, playground and a wide gastronomic selection.
