Cala Mesquida, also known as Arenal de sa Mesquida, is one of the most magical places of Mallorca, a beach of fine white sand embraced by rocks, dunes and pine trees creating a unique natural environment, is one of the most beautiful beaches in the archipelago. The beach is 300 metres in length and over 100 metres in depth.Due to its conditions, the beach is Children Friendly, large beach with pretty shallow water and a lot of space for playing.
Located northeast of the island, 12km from the old town of Artá and 7 km from Capdepera, Cala Mesquida is guarded on the right side by an ancient watchtower called Torre de Son Jaumell and an important dune system, it is an unspoilt area that has remained natural, without buildings. Close by is one of the largest colonies of gulls and cormorants in the Balearic Islands. Instead on the left side of the beach, it is all a very touristy residential area.
The towering dunes of Cala Mesquidapenetrate 1Km into the mainland. The dune systems are vital for this particularly fragile ecosystem. This declared Area of Natural Interest system has a large number of plant species and is home to many terrestrial species. There is a popular trail for hikers, bikers and even horseback riding runners from Cala Mesquida to Cala Agulla, which is a beautiful journey of about 30 minutes.
An accessible, beautiful and amazing and comfortable beach, because it has good facilities such as rent chairs, umbrellas and good restaurants. It is an ideal place to go with your family, although its occupancy level is usually high in high season. On one side of the beach, near the rocks, you can practice nudism.
How to reach Cala Mesquida ?
To reach the Cala Mesquida beach there are two options: we can go by the local road of Capdepera or on foot from Cala Agulla Beach, through the pine forest, always following the path marked and signposted towards Cala Mesquida. It is one of the nudist beaches in the area that offers infrastructure and services and presents a high degree of occupation because of the hotels that surround it.
