Cala Montgó

Cala Montgó is sheltered from the rugged rocky coast of the Montgri’s Natural Park, and is protected from the Tramontana wind.

Cala Montgó is located south of the town of L’escala but belongs to the municipality of Torroella de Montgrí and its located 20 km from L’Estartit. You can access it on foot, as on either side of the beach exit roads to the two nearest towns, by car or boat.

In this cove, Roman remains were found which shows that since ancient times, it was used as a landing point.

There are numerous tourist establishments close to the promenade and services on the beach like bars, rent hammocks and parasols, lifeguard and activities sports, tranquility, leisure family…. For its environmental management, beauty and quality of its services, it is awarded the Blue Flag of the European Union, but it doesn’t have an excessive level of occupation, we could say that its occupancy level is medium.

From any terrace of the beach or from the same cove, you can see a typical Mediterranean landscape of great beauty.

 

How to get to Cala Montgó?

Located on the border between L’Escala and Torroella de Montgrí. The easiest access to Montgó cove is from L’Escala, since this beach is 12 km from L’Estartit by a dirt track or 20 km away by road. Parking area near the beach.
