Faro de Favaritx

Located just over 17 kilometers from the capital of the island, Mahón (Mahón) in the northeast end of the island, we find the spectacular Favaritx lighthouse built in 1922 in an inhospitable and lonely northeast of the island environment.

Lighthouse Favaritx in Mahon

Favaritx Lighthouse is located in the solitary Cabo Favaritx, whipped by strong winds of the Tramontana, on a slate stone promontory between two bays. From a distance we can see how it highlights its high white and black tower of 29m high, with a wild and rugged environment, forming one of the most visited island lighthouses.

Due to its location at the tip of Cabo Faravitx, waves frequently break through the barrier and flood the esplanade of the lighthouse with the wind that makes a whitish area called “La Salina”.
From Son Camamilla you can reach two beaches of unusual beauty: One is Cala Presili and other Cala Tortuga, both are curious beaches. The first one has very dark sand and the second gravel sand. Both are pretty and not very visited.
