In the Montgó Nature Reserve the imposing Montgó natural park massife rises to 750m above sea level, almost parallel to the coast dominating the entire municipality of Marina Alta. The mountain has been for centuries a reference point for each and every one of the civilizations that have trod this territory. It belongs to the municipalities of Denia and Jávea which has caused some (but healthy) rivalry between populations.
Montgó Natural Park is an area of great natural wealth in which live more than 600 species of flora, being a botanical reference of the first order, with 4 very distinct areas of pine forest, scrub, sea cliffs and crops. There have also been cataloged more than 150 species of vertebrates including birds, mammals and reptiles.
