In the top of a small hill to the South the town of Mijas, dominating all the people and it costa, is placed them ruins of the Mijas Castle of the wall. You can visit the gardens and viewpoint of the wall of Mijas to enjoy beautiful views of the Mediterranean.

During the Christian conquest in 1485 by the Catholic Monarchs, the country had 3 fortified enclosures, the Osunilla Castle Fort, Fuengirola Castle and Mijas Fort. The latter, in the past, was an important military stronghold which function was monitoring and protecting the population against the enemy attack.

Today, only one tower remains standing and some pieces of walls are scattered in a beautiful setting, surrounded by beautiful gardens, fountains and a vantage point with spectacular views. In addition it was declared Cultural Feature of National Interest in 1985, so it is worth a visit.
