The Montgrí, Illes Medes and BaixTer Natural Park lets us discover a unique and natural place, the Medes Islands incredible sea beds are full of life and the marshlands of Ter river at its mouth in the Gulf of Roses offers a beautiful landscape with a great faunal and environmental value. Natural Park Montgrí consists of 8 municipalities of the Costa de Girona, but gets its name from Torroella de Montgri and is a natural area of great environmental richness, with an area of 8192 hectares, includes the massif of Montgrí, the archipiélago de las Islas Medas of great ecological value and considered Integral nature Reserve value, and its seabed and wetlands at the mouth of the river Ter considered a partial nature reserve.

For hikers, the Montgrí, Illes Medes and BaixTer Natural Park has great appeal, among the mountain, valley and wetlands of the Terare 17 itineraries where to enjoy nature and discover a wide variety of marine and terrestrial habitats of many species, whether hiking, cycling or mountain biking. In the towns of TorroellaiEstartit, you will find 40 specialized companies that offer all kinds of active tourism, and tourist offices of L’Estartit offer maps and information on routes.

But undoubtedly the highlight of this park is the Marine Reserve of the Medes Islands located just 1 mile from the coast. It is the only marine reserve in the country and has 21 hectares of land divided into 7 islands considered the continuation of the massif of Montgrí in its descent to the sea, and 511 hectares of incredible seabed with a considerable value in the Mediterranean and highly recognized by divers in the whole world.

There is a wide range of sports and leisure offerings in Montgrí, Illes Medes and Baix Ter Natural Park  to explore the islands and its seabed, all very respectful of the environment, because every year they receive thousands of visitors. You can get there by sailboat, kayak, rent a boat or a hired tour in which you can do snorkeling or diving.
