Located nine kilometers from the town of Vejer de la Frontera in Cadiz, Playa del Palmar is a huge, wild beach that is free of buildings. It is an increasingly popular place, but fortunately still held in a delicate balance that keeps its coastal zone, of 8km long with an average width of 80m, pretty unspoiled. It features clear and fine sand bathed by calm waters.
You will certainly fall in love with its relaxed and informal atmosphere, although it doesn’t have too many services because it is a pretty unspoiled beach. But there are many restaurants to choose from and surf schools where children can get started in this fun sport when the sea permits it. It also has an important dune system parallel to the beach where they recently built wooden walkways to try to improve its protection.
Something that highlights one end of the beach is Torre del Palmar, built in the 16th century and was part of the coastal defense system of the Cadiz coast.
You cannot miss the beach at sunset, when you can enjoy wonderful sunsets from Palmar watching the sun melt into Atlantic waters as the sky glows in a multitude of shades and stains the sea with gold. Prepare the camera, because the sunsets here are pure magic! From La Cervecería, Playa del Palmar is an earthly paradise, a place to visit with as a couple, or with family or friends. In any case you’ll find a lovely, engaging atmosphere. We urge you to come here, because it is a place that is not too frequent nowadays. But please don’t spread the word! We do not want it to become too popular…
