PortAventura is located just 2 km from the center of Salou and is one of the largest theme parks and more successful in Europe. It is the pride of the Costa Dorada with more than 4 million visitors each year, a number that grows every year and allows the park to constantly innovate, installing new attractions each season.
The PortAventura theme park is open almost all year, from March to December. It takes advantage of the different holidays for offering theme days, some of them are highly popular, like Halloween at PortAventura with passages of terror and fear-related shows.
In summer the schedule expands from 10 am to 12 pm, ending the day with a beautiful fireworks displayed over the lake of the Mediterranea, allowing the option of buying an afternoon ticket, from 19h to 24h. If you’re traveling with your family, we recommend you stay until night time.
What to see in Port Aventura?
PortAventura holds 5 thematic areas: the Mediterranean, China, Mexico, Far West and Polynesia. Each perfectly set, where nothing seems out of place. Really! You will be transferred to those places with its buildings, vegetation, even the climate. In addition to the real-life atmosphere, you can release adrenaline through countless attractions like the Dragon Khan, which is one of the highest roller coasters in Europe, Furius Bacco a terrifying landscape catapult, or Huracan Condor with a free fall of 100m, there are quieter attractions or not so shocking ones that family travelers can enjoy together, such as Tutuki Splash, Shambala, Silver River Flume or Angkor. There is a train that starts at the Farwest and runs all along the area until the Antigua China.
PortAventura with children
If you go with young children, they enjoy throughout the park, but will not want to leave Sesamo Aventura. It is the park area dedicated to children. Both, attractions and shows, are perfect for them. They can play and dance with the most famous characters of the legendary Sesame Street.
Throughout the day and in all areas, beautiful and fun events related to the theme are held. Some exemples are the legendary Can Can Show de la Cantina del Oeste, bird shows, Acrobatics in China, Bora Bora dances and many more. Make sure you grab your calendar with show schedules at the entrance.
As if that were not enough, a few years ago, a Cirque du Soleil tent was installed next to the park. (Not included in the park price). There you can enjoy magical and impressive performances, that allows you to dream for a few hours, in line with the Canadian company.
