Visit to Calvario
You cannot leave Pollença without making the ascent to the Calvario; the effort is really worth. It is full of narrow streets, craft stalls and old buildings with a fascinating atmosphere in a charming place. To climb it (it takes about 40 minutes to climb on foot) you must pass through 365 steps corresponding to 365 days of the year. At the top, you will see the ermita and spectacular views of Pollensa Bay and the Sierra de Tramontana.
Reserva Natural de L’Albufera Nature Reserve
Nature lovers will enjoy making a trip to Reserva Natural L’ Albufereta. Located in the Bay of Pollensa, with an area of 2,400ha, this is one of the most important wetlands in Mallorca. It is a natural park of great environmental wealth, where the flora and fauna are quite broad and diverse. We can make several trips and excursions to enjoy its beautiful natural scenery and see a lot of native and migratory birds.
Faro de Formentor
You cannot miss an enjoying nice drive from Pollensa to Faro de Formentor. Starting from the port of Pollensa, it passes a 12 km road full of curves from Península de Formentor; this ride lasts approximately 2 hours where we will find beautiful viewpoints like Mirador des Colomer or Sa Creueta, and then pass through the famous Playa de Formentor, through unforgettable places, coves, cliffs and gorges while enjoying amazing views of the lighthouse.
Formento Beach
One of the most essential spots of Pollensa is a visit to Playa de Formentor. An iconic beach North of the Island through which have passed by such illustrious figures as Charlie Chaplin and Winston Churchill. A long stretch of sand flanked by lush pine forests caressing a transparent turquoise sea. Definitely, a beach that makes you feel privileged and you will never want to leave.
Necropolis Cala Varques
Just 1 km from Port de Pollença we find Cala Varques in the residential area of Cala Vicenç, where besides taking a dip in some charming coves we can also make a visit to the caves that are part of a necropolis dating to the1600 BC. We may enter the caves, see their rooms and their different vaults made by the hand of man centuries ago.
Plaza Mayor de Pollensa
Take a walk to the Plaza Mayor of Pollensa, a place with a special charm, full of bars and cafes that become the meeting place for all Pollensines creating a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. It is worth explore its surrounding streets, old houses and typically Majorcan architecture that gives us an idea of the daily and real life of local people. The Sunday market here is another of the must visits of Pollensa.
Scuba diving in Pollença
Diving enthusiasts are in luck in Pollensa, as here will find seabeds of absolute beauty and abundant underwater fauna. Many companies organize diving adventures for all levels, because here the clear waters favor the high visibility under the sea to enjoy a wide flora and fauna at different depths.
Fiesta Mare de Deu del Angels
If you are lucky enough to be in Pollensa on August 2, you cannot lose the most emblematic and expected municipality feast: la fiesta de los Moros y Cristianos. The day begins with a solemn Mass and some rituals as procesión de la Mare de Deu dels Angels at 17: 00h. At 19: 00h takes place the great battle between Moors and Christians through the streets of the town. Definitely a fun party and one of the must visits of Pollensa.
Convento Santo Domingo
If you like history, you must visit the cloister and Convento of Santo Domingo, built by the Dominicans in the XVI and XVII century, apart from being a beautiful building, the convent is known for hosting each year in its cloister, one of the most important classical concerts in the world during the classical music Festival of Pollença held the first week of August.
Cala Murta tour
This is more an excursion than a simple visit to Cala Murta,due to its access is not easy, after a driving through a winding road you have to leave your car in a parking area and walk more than a kilometer and a half. That’s why this place is still a paradise, away from the crowds of other beaches in Mallorca and is very beautiful; the water is turquoise and very clear, if you do not mind walking a bit, we recommend it as one of the must visits in Pollensa.
