Cala Murta

Cala Murta is a beautiful cove located in the Bay of Formentor at about 20 km of Pollença north of the island of Mallorca. A spectacular sea inlet that juts up to within 180 meters, surrounded by cliffs and lush vegetation.

Cala Murta aereal view

You will fall in love with its crystalline waters and the stark contrast with the deep green of the pine forest that caresses the sea. In the background, you will often see small boats moored in the bay which gives a Cala Murta a picturesque atmosphere. A movie-like beach you will not want to leave.
Access to the beach is not easy, which makes this beach almost always very quiet. Road access here is easy and well-marked until you see the road marks to Cala Murta, where we have to stop and park the vehicle, then you have to make a path to walk about 1500m.

Cala Murta landscape

To reach the beach we take the road from Pollença that goes to Faro de Formentor. We will travel nearly 20 km through closed road curves but enjoying spectacular scenery. Then we pass the Mirador del Colomer (mandatory stop) and also the famous Playa de Formentor until you reach the sign that indicates Cala Murta. From there, as we have said, there are still 1500 meters left through a beautiful pine forest to reach the paradise; it is quite a trip to a beautiful place as a destination.
