Impressive fortress built in the 19th century by Isabel II to defend the city, its strategic situation at the mouth of the Port of Mahon made it a key point in the island’s defence system.

This is definitely a must see in Menorca, the military Fortress of La Mola, built in the 19th century by Isabel II at the entrance to the port of Mahón, it is one of the largest and best preserved in Europe.

Constant pressure and threats from the British to return to the island made the queen decide to build this spectacular fortress to defend the island and the entrance to the port of Mahón. It is undoubtedly one of the main attractions of the island and a spectacular visit that leaves no one indifferent.

Visitors can take a tour of the Mola, you can do it on your own but it is best to hire a guided tour, that will make you discover the history of the Fort, its details and anecdotes.. Guided tours usually last for 2 hours and made a tour through the bowels of this fascinating and majestic architectural work.
The Fortress of La Mola has exceptional panoramic views of Mahón harbor and also along the coast.
