All the Promenade Jaume I is dotted with beautiful and towering palm trees, gardens and playground areas that give a Mediterranean touch. There is also a beautiful bike path that comes from the nearby town of Cambrils and runs through the ride, we recommend this beautiful bike tour that can be done along about 10 kilometers.

The Promenade Jaume I and history

Along the Promenade Jaume I  we find several monuments, but the highlight of one of them for its importance, at approximately half of the “Paseo”, we find a monument dedicated to King Jaume I, opened in 1965 and designed by the architect Salvador Ripoll and the sculptor Lluis Maria Saumells. It is a small obelisk and the figure of King and his horse, made of stone with the head of the horse being gold coated, intended to keep the memory of important historical events that took place here.

Also the main celebrations of Salou are held in his honor during the first week of September. In them, is presented a historical recreation of a medieval camp reminiscent of the departure of a fleet of ships commanded by Jaume I and captained by nobles Catalan from the beaches of Salou in 1229, with the intention of reconquering the Balearic Islands. You can also enjoy the medieval market, and other popular celebrations.

The Promenade Jaume I is a place with great atmosphere both day and night, when the lights of the cybernetic fountains are turned on, forming a nice show of water, light and color light.
Next to the promenade you will find all kinds of stores, boutiques, supermarkets and souvenir shops, which enlarge what is considered the main spot in Salou.
