Cala Vidre ~ Vidre Cove

A beautiful typical Mediterranean cove, where the cliffs full of vegetation contrasts with the beautiful blue color of its waters.

The beautiful beach Cala Vidre is located in a still unspoiled and little urbanized residential area, known as Sant Jordi d’Alfama, 1 kilometer of the Marina Calafat and 5 kilometers from the pretty fishing village of l’Ametlla of Mar.

The cove  has a perfect horseshoe shape and is surrounded by a pine-covered steep cliffs and typical Mediterranean vegetation, which contrasts with the beautiful blue sea of this area of the Costa Dorada; its geographical position is very sheltered from the wind.

It is a small cove with fine golden sand and clean, clear and incredible turquoise waters. But it is not a beach with many services as its neighbors Cala Forn beach or Sant Jordi d’Alfama in its northern part. The beach has cleaning services, showers, toilets, and also disabled access. Despite the beauty of the place, the beach has medium occupation despite being located in a sparsely populated area.

Cala vidre

L’Ametlla de Mar holds the largest meadow of Posidonia of the Catalan coast and boasts of its good state of preservation. That is the reason the waters in this area of the Costa Dorada are so beautiful, crystal clear, and with a unique color.

Cala Vidre is one of the favorite beaches for those who decide to know the wonderful world of diving, from here many “baptisms” are made. There are several dive companies in the area that offer night dives.

How to access to Cala Vidre?

You can access it on foot or by car. It has a recently enabled parking lot and a ramp down to the beach.
