The Dragut Cave is a fantastic museum dedicated to piracy and especially the famous pirate Dragut. According to legend, in 1550, the pirate attacked the town of Cullera pillaging the town and leaving hundreds of people to sell them later as slaves or collect ransom for them. They say the attack was so barbaric that the city of Cullera was, for many years, uninhabited for fear of being attacked again by the pirate Dragut.
The cave in which the prisoner exchange took place is today Cueva museo del pirata Dragut, located near the lighthouse of Cullera, in a natural setting of great beauty on the edge of the cliffs.
The main theme of the museum is about the assault of Pirate Dragut to the city of Cullera. During the tour, we will travel back in time to dive into the world of pirates. We will put ourselves in the shoes of those who suffered the terror of these sea lions .
Here we can also see a small sample of what was the city before being attacked by pirates. As well as an exhibition of items and secrets of pirates as maps, coins and costumes. There is a spectacular exhibition of authentic full-size pirate ship found in one of the rooms in a show with light and sound.
