A fantastic avant-garde complex of great beauty and harmony open as a large space of science and culture. The City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia is situated on the Rio Turia, was inaugurated in April 1998 by the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava and its modernity catapulted the city to the XXI century.
This architectural complex never disappoints and will surprise you from the first moment. The City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia occupies almost two kilometers and has about 350,000 m2 which are projected by six avant-garde buildings, each with a different concept, wide open spaces, large fountains and gardens.
The first building to be built was Hemisférico, eye-shaped building with rooms. Spain’s largest projection has three projection systems in a concave screen of 900 m2 and there we found the cine Imax y Laserium.
Later other buildings such as the Oceanogràfic would be inaugurated. This is the largest aquarium in Europe, in it are represented the different aquatic areas of the world. We will find areas like Mediterranean, wetlands, temperate and tropical seas, oceans, Antarctic, Arctic, Islands and Red Sea. There is also a department called the Arca del Mar, a shelter and recovery center for dolphins as well as the largest center of Spain care and rehabilitation of reptiles. Curiously, in the Oceanogràfioc you can eat in an underwater restaurant.
Another of the buildings that make up the City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia is Museo de Ciencias Príncipe Felipe, a wonderful way to learn everything about the evolution of life and science, with interactive exhibitions and scientific animations which is very fun for all audiences, to make it a great family visit.
We also find the Palau de las Arts Reina Sofia, with the latest technology, to be an enabler of culture, arts and music. Here, you can enjoy artistic performances.
The Ágora building is a beautiful architectural space of multifunctional versatility. It hosts events of all kinds such as conferences, exhibitions, concerts and conventions.
And finally, the wonderful Umbracle, a unique viewpoint of more than 17,500 meters. It is where to relax and enjoy the wonderful views of the whole architectural complex.
