North of the town of Altea, part of the Marina Baixa, we find the beautiful Mascarat beach, it is a beautiful unspoiled beach of sand and stones, attached to the marina of Altea.
It is not a very big beach but you will fall in love with its natural landscape of great beauty. The Sierra de Bernia reaches the sea abruptly, and the Playa del Mascarat features a large vertical wall of limestone rock that juts into the sea forming one of the wildest and most beautiful corners of Altea. It is a much frequented spot by lovers of climbing.
In this area of Altea, seabeds are rocky and proliferate seagrass meadows that make crystal clear waters here, which are especially perfect for snorkeling and diving. It also has anchorage areas. Do not forget the glasses and the tube and just a few meters from the coast you can find a good representation of fauna and Mediterranean coastal fleet.
Mascarat beach features good services, rental chairs and umbrellas, beach cleaning, rescue equipment, showers, footbaths and public toilets. Puerto de Campomanes is only 100m so there you can practice all kinds of nautical sports. It also has a nice bar where to have a quiet drink, but only opens in summer. The rest of the year, there are other nearby restaurants where to try the delicious dishes of Spanish levante.
Access to the beach is very easy, can be reached on foot, by car or by bus which has a stop at 500 m.
