Javea, or Xavia, is a small town of 32,000 inhabitants located north of Alicante in the Comarca de la Marina Alta. Dominated by the presence of the majestic Monte Montgó and the fantastic Parque Natural, Javea has 25 km of coastline with numerous coves and beaches that leave no one indifferent. The municipality is divided into 2 parts: first the area of the beach and the promenade. But also other highlights are the historic area, a fantastic medieval village located 2 km from the coast .
Ruta de Los Miradores is one of the essential spots in Jávea. Visitors can discover the Litoral along the route of the viewpoints; a fantastic ride through 15 viewpoints strategically placed to enjoy the fantastic scenery and views offered by this region. The route is well signposted and when reaching the lookout, there are indicative signs installed that will give us an explanation of the area.
The old town of Jávea is located 2 km from the coast. A tour of this fantastic historic quarter will transport us back in time through its narrow cobbled streets, its walls, its defensive buildings that remind us of the warlike past of the city. We also highlight the Mercado de los Abastos, Iglesia de San Bartolomé, the Town Hall or the archaeological museum.
In the Cabo de San Antonio, in a place of great natural beauty between Jávea and Denia are the ancient windmills. This is a nice excursion in a wild natural environment where besides enjoying a wonderful view of Cabo de Nao, you will learn the history of these old windmills.
Along its coast, Jávea has many beaches and coves of great beauty. Its jagged coastline offers sandy beaches and crystal clear waters but also hidden rocky coves to enjoy the sun, sea and water sports.
Jávea has a great gastronomic offering as well as a large number of bars, restaurants and terraces. One of the liveliest areas is the promenade where we find everything from pizzerias such as the Lungo Mare restaurant, to good restaurants offering tapas and paellas as La Casita de Paco or Remo restaurant where you can enjoy delicious paellas and seafood.
If what we like are the bars, Altea has a large number of them such as the Mosquito or the famous Montgo di Bongo. At sunset we can have fun at Atalaya or the Chill Kandhala disco where you can taste delicious cocktails and enjoy a good atmosphere.
In Javea we find a beautiful maze of streets and alleys, full of old houses and historic buildings which include the Town Hall, Iglesia de San Bartolomé or Museo Etnológico. It also features the always surprising Cabo de San Antonio, a steep, rocky and rugged region where the cliffs plunge over the sea, abruptly forming in its depths the Reserva Marina de Cabo de San Antonio, a paradise under the sea. Playa Arenal is the main beach in Jávea and is only composed of sand from the town center. Throughout its 500 meters in length, it has a beautiful promenade that skirts it, where you will find many bars and restaurants offering great entertainment both day and night.
Cala Ambolo is a beautiful beach on the outskirts of Jávea next to the Cabo de Nao opposite the Isla del Descubridor. A natural environment of great beauty to enjoy the relaxation and tranquility given the difficulty of access to the beach.
Cala Granadella is a lovely cove 220 meters long with crystal clear water located near the Cabo de Nao and named for several years by a famous television program as the best beach in Spain. In a wild natural setting, this pebble beach and crystal clear waters highlighted with the green of the mountains and cliffs that surround it.
Cala Portixol is a beautiful, natural and wild beach lapped by crystal clear waters which include the old fishermen's huts at the water’s edge. It is situated between Cap Prim and Cap Negre. The rocky seabed and the Posidonia meadows of this beach make it the ideal place for diving where we find abundant marine fauna.
If we want to drive to Jávea then go by the AP-7 motorway, take the exit 62 to access the town. You can also access Jávea by the National Highway 332 from Valencia to Alicante.
If you want more comfort and arrive by plane, you have 2 nearby airports, Alicante which is situated 90 km from Jávea or Valencia Airport about 100 km away with good national and international connections. For the bus option we have a service called Benniconect that performs transfers from Alicante airport to Jávea. This service has very affordable prices and buses travel regularly throughout the year, increasing the number of trips during the summer season.
If we wish to travel by bus from Valencia, the buses run twice a day or you can go to Valencia center and catch one of the regular services to Jávea.
