What to do in Pollensa

El Mirador de Es Colomer: about 10 kilometers from the Port of Pollensa, is the most famous viewpoint on the Mallorcan coast. It offers spectacular views of Cabo Formentor and the entire north coast of Mallorca. Tourists who come to this viewpoint take the most beautiful and emotional photographs of all their vacations. It is a vertical wall 200 meters high, framed by the left side with bare and vertical walls of the Cavall Bernat mountain range.

From Mirador de Es Colomer we can get to a secondary road that takes to Atalaya de Albercuix, at 390 meters above the sea level. It was built in the 16th century. Later, we find Cabo Formentor and its lighthouse which has a tower of 56 meters high. It started to function in 1863.

Convento de Santo Domingo is located in the old town of Pollensa, and it’s currently used as the headquarters of the Pollensa Museum and the information and tourism office. This building was built by the Dominicans between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries to strengthen their presence in Pollensa.

The gastronomy of Pollensa is based on the Mediterranean cuisine, both local and international. On the terraces of Pollensa, it is common to eat something like its characteristic sausages: sobrasada, longaniza and camaiot. Between the typical dishes of this municipality we find the mallorquinas soups, the tumbet, arroz brut, coques de trempó y verdures, el frito de matanza and els molls. Pollensa is known, in addition to its wide rental accommodation offer, for its culture. Their works were known both inside and outside Mallorca. To this day, Pollensa continues to have a great name and recognition in the world of culture and art thanks to certain initiatives or cultural spaces such as Festival Internacional de Música, la casa-Museo Dionís Bennássar, el Museo de Pollensa or el Museo Martí Vicenc.

What to do with children in Pollensa

One of the activities that children like the most is to go to the beach to be all day soaking and playing in the sand. Pollensa is one of the main tourist destinations mainly for its beaches with crystal clear waters and moderate swell, such as playa de Formentor, la playa del Port de Pollença and playa d’Albercuix.

But what stands out the most in Pollensa is the number and beauty of its coves. One of them is Cala Clara, which is located near the port of Pollensa. It is characterized by its tranquility and the clarity of its waters. To the right there is a path leading to the cliffs. Cala de San Vicente, on the other hand, holds a group of coves with crystalline waters located at the foot of Cavall Bernat and the set of prehistoric caves of l'Alzineret.

Another option is to visit Pollensa in search of its native botanical wealth. The more adventurous tourists will be able to see with their own eyes the acebuche, the lentisco, the jara or the palmito. You can also go to Reserva Natural de la Albufereta of 295 hectares.
